<div dir="ltr"><div><b>UNIX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION WORKSHOP FOR WESTERN WOMEN ENGINEERS, DAKAR, SENEGAL (14TH – 18TH OCTOBER, 2013)</b></div><div><br></div><div><b>Background</b></div><div>The African Network Operators Group (AfNOG ) invites women engineers from West Africa to participate in an intensive Unix System Administration workshop.</div>
<div><br></div><div><b>Workshop Goals and Outline</b></div><div>Overall objective: After attending this track, participants will be able to install, upgrade, secure and competently manage the Unix operating system on standard PC hardware, and use it to provide essential Internet services on a network. It is aimed at participants who are technically competent but may have had little or no prior exposure to the Unix environment. In addition they will be taught concepts such as: </div>
<div> Basic Internet Protocols and how they work </div><div> Some basic Internet services and how they function, including DNS, Web, SSH and E-mail </div><div> Designing installations for long-term scalability of services </div>
<div><span style="white-space:pre-wrap"> </span></div><div><b>Who should apply</b></div><div>All Senegalese and West Africa women engineers, Software Developers and Systems Administrators with a desire to get Unix Administration skills. The Workshop is largely funded however Participants will be required to contribute $200.00 or its equivalent in CFA to cover some of the costs. </div>
<div><br></div><div><b>Pre-requisites:</b></div><div>Experience in managing PCs and installing software (such as installing the 'Windows' operating system), but not necessarily Unix. Some prior Unix/Linux experience would be of great benefit. </div>
<div><br></div><div><b>Language</b>:</div><div>Language of instruction will be French, however there will be Bi-Lingual Instructors in attendance.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Application procedure:</b></div><div><br></div>

<div>Le Groupe Africain d’Opérateurs Réseaux (AfNOG) invite les femmes ingénieurs de l’Afrique de l'Ouest) à participer à un atelier intensif d'administration système sous Unix.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Objectifs</b></div>
<div>A la fin de cet atelier, les participantes seront en mesure, d’une part, d'installer, de mettre à niveau, de sécuriser et de gérer un système d'exploitation Unix installé sur un PC standard, et d’autre part, de l'utiliser pour fournir les services Internet de base. Cet atelier s'adresse à des participantes qui sont techniquement compétentes en informatique, et ayant peu ou pas d’expérience avec l'environnement Unix. En outre, il sera enseigné des notions telles que:</div>
<div>Les protocoles Internet de base et comment ils fonctionnent ;</div><div>Certains services de base d'Internet et comment ils fonctionnent, y compris DNS, Web, SSH et E-mail;</div><div>La conception de systèmes avec des services évolutifs sur le long terme </div>
<div><br></div><div><b>Cibles</b></div><div>Toutes les femmes de l’Afrique de l’Ouest ingénieurs, développeurs de logiciels et administrateurs de systèmes qui souhaitent acquérir des compétences en administration UNIX. L'atelier est financé en grande partie cependant les participantes seront tenues de payer les frais de participation qui s’élèvent à 200$ ou son équivalent en CFA pour couvrir une partie des coûts.</div>
<div><br></div><div><b>Pré-requis</b></div><div>Expérience sans l’utilisation de PC, l’nstallation le logiciel (comme l'installation du système d'exploitation Windows mais pas nécessairement Unix). Une certaine expérience en Unix /Linux préalable serait d'une grande utilité.</div>
<div><br></div><div><b>Langue : </b></div><div>La langue d'enseignement est le français mais il y aura des instructeurs bilingues (français - anglais).</div><div><br></div><div><b>Procédure de candidature</b></div><div>
