exim: permission denied

hello all, This is important, please let me here from you as soon as 
possible.


Could anyone tell me what could be the cause of this. I set up nfs to copy 
/home directory from a current mailserver to another. I did


#mount uugate:/home  /tmp  (uugate is the local computer and current 
mailserver,                             /tmp is mount point on the remote 
computer).


#ls /tmp   ( which listed the contents of uugate:/home)


#cp -R /tmp  /home


this give a series of permission denied (eg. /home/lorenzom/.rhosts). So, i 
did

#chmod 777 /home/*  ( the original was 755)

I still got the permission denied for those files but I proceeded.
After wards


#chmod 755 /home


And minutes later this is what happened to the working server:

I then removed all nfs settings and rebooted but the problem persisted.


All permissions still look the same as before.

Can anyone help?
