I agree, but just to add, Paul, when you subnet an IP address for a network,
you invariably connect it to the router. So you don't need to specify a
static route for that network on the same router it resides. That network is
already connected directly, which means it has a metric of 0. With a metric
of 0, that route will be preffered to the static route, as static routes
have a metric of 1.

The only reason you would need to use that route rule is if you have a core
router, and you subnetted that network on another [distribution] within your
network.

Yes, you already said that. But you did not indicated the actual layout of
the three subnetworks. I tried to guess in my previous message. Was I OK?

OK, so you have:

64.110.88.0/28  : MANAGEMENT
64.110.88.16/28 : unused
64.110.88.32/27 : PtP LINKS
64.110.88.64/26 : PtMultipoint NETWORK

Is it OK?

I must confess I cannot make head nor tail from it. Can you draw a nice
ASCII
diagram of your network? With the *names* (names are necessary for
communication)
of the machines and the links between them?
