Dear colleagues,

The AFRINIC NomCom 2020 is pleased to invite nominations for candidates 
for one NRO NC/ASO AC position, which is up for election by the AFRINIC 
Community, to serve a three-year term from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 
2023. The seat is currently held by Mukhangu Noah Maina.

The NRO-NC serves as the ICANN ASO-AC according to the ICANN ASO MoU

1. Responsibilities of the ICANN ASO-AC

· Undertaking a role in the global policy development process

· Providing recommendations to the Board of ICANN concerning the 
recognition of new RIRs, according to agreed requirements and policies 
as currently described in 
https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/new-rirs-criteria-2012-02-25-en

· Defining procedures for selection of individuals to serve on other 
ICANN bodies, in particular on the ICANN Board, and implementing any 
roles assigned to the Address Council in such procedures.

· Providing advice to the Board of ICANN on number resource allocation 
policy, in conjunction with the RIRs.

2. Eligibility

Open to individuals residing within the AFRINIC region of service. All 
nominations (including self-nominations) must be supported by a minimum 
of two AFRINIC community members; the two individuals must not work for 
the same organization.

A person may only nominate one candidate - and, in case of multiple 
nominations by the same person, only the last nomination will be 
considered valid. AFRINIC or other RIR staff can neither nominate 
candidates nor be nominated for an ASO AC seat.

Such persons deemed for the NRO-NC position must have been active on the 
RPD mailing list for at least a period of one year and have a clear 
understanding of the spirit and letter of the CPM 
(https://afrinic.net/policy/manual

)/ PDP (https://afrinic.net/policy) developed by the PDWG community 
process as well as current draft proposals.

3. Nominating Procedure

Please submit your nomination using the on-line nomination form at:

4. Deadline for Nominations

The Closure of the Candidate Nomination period is 4th April 2020 at 
23:59 UTC.

Please note that the election will take place during the AFRINIC-32 The 
meeting will take place in Kinshasa, DR Congo from 6 June to 12 June 2020.

An eligible voter shall be:

Anyone from the AFRINIC community present at the face-to-face meeting 
who meets the following criteria:

l Has registered to attend the AFRINIC-32 meeting (must present the 
meeting badge as proof),

l Resides in a country within the AFRINIC service region and

l Is not AFRINIC staff.

Ballots for the vote will be distributed at the meeting registration 
desk by AFRINIC staff.

Voting by Proxy: Proxy voting is not allowed for the NRO-NC 
representative election.

2. Éligibilité
Ouvert aux personnes résidant dans la région de service AFRINIC. Toutes 
les candidatures (y compris les candidats qui proposent leurs 
candidatures) doivent être soutenues par un minimum de deux membres de 
la communauté AFRINIC ; les deux personnes ne doivent pas travailler 
pour la même organisation.

Une personne ne peut proposer qu'un seul candidat - et, en cas de 
propositions multiples par la même personne, seule la dernière 
proposition sera considérée comme valable. Les membres du personnel 
d'AFRINIC ou d'autres RIR ne peuvent ni proposer de candidats ni être 
nommés pour un siège au CA de l'ASO.

Les personnes présélectionnées pour le poste de NRO-NC doivent être 
actives sur la liste de diffusion de la RPD pendant au moins un an et 
doivent avoir une bonne compréhension de l'esprit et de la lecture du 
CPM (https://afrinic.net/policy/manual) / PDP 
(https://afrinic.net/policy) comme développé par le processus du PDWG de 
la communauté ainsi que des propositions de politiques actuelles.

3. Procédure de mise en candidature
