The jump between xDSL variants, and from xDSL to Ethernet, and from
Fast-E to Gig-E, made sense for rolling out CPE every year.
But between Gig-E and 802.11ac|ax, there isn't going to be much appetite
for getting customers to buy CPE every year. It's kind of like buying
new phones every year just to get a better camera, type-thing.
The CPE vendors that realize this will be the ones that survive the longest.
