Organisers
AfricaCERT and SANS
Session Overview
The Internet has become a critical enabler of economic growth, digital transformation, financial services, government operations, and regional connectivity across Africa. As dependence on digital infrastructure continues to grow, protecting the systems that underpin the Internet has become increasingly important.
This session will provide a practical overview of today's cyber threats targeting critical Internet infrastructure across Africa, including Internet Service Providers (ISPs), telecommunications operators, Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), DNS Operators, and the broader Internet ecosystem. As key stewards of Internet availability and resilience, Internet Infrastructure operators play a particularly important role in supporting trusted communications, economic activity, and essential digital services.
The discussion will explore common threats targeting Internet infrastructure, emerging challenges facing operators and national ecosystems, lessons learned from recent incidents, and practical approaches to strengthening resilience through preparedness, collaboration, and information sharing among operators, CERTs/CSIRTs, and cybersecurity stakeholders.
