Closing Communiqué

The Africa Internet Summit 2026 (AIS'26) took place in Nairobi, Kenya,
from 22 to 26 June 2026, bringing together the African Internet
community, partners, and friends to discuss and exchange views on global
and regional issues related to numbers, names, data, digital
infrastructure, and the broader digital ecosystem.

This year's Summit was held under the theme: "Shaping Africa's Internet
Future Through Collaboration, Innovation, and Resilience". Throughout
the week, the community engaged in deep reflection and dialogue.

As participants return home, they are encouraged to reflect on and act
upon the following key takeaways:

	*

Advice on shaping Africa's Internet future through collaboration,
innovation, and resilience, as shared by keynote speakers and experts.
	*

The importance of data development and governance as a strategic pillar
for Africa's digital transformation.
	*

The need to prepare for the transition to Post-Quantum Cryptography to
ensure long-term security and trust in digital systems.
	*

The need to revamp and strengthen Africa's technical capacity-building
ecosystem to meet the operational demands of modern Internet
infrastructure.
	*

The collective responsibility to safeguard AFRINIC and ensure its
stability, credibility, and continuity.
	*

The need to improve and renew participation in the bottom-up,
community-driven Policy Development Process to strengthen regional
Internet governance.
	*

Considerations for Africa's engagement in the ICANN New gTLD Program,
ensuring the region adopts new namespaces responsibly without
undermining existing structures.
	*
