Dear Friends,
I am deeply saddened by Alan’s passing. He was a true pioneer of the African Internet community and a mentor to many of us. I will always remember his guidance and support during my first nomination as AFRINIC PDWG Co-Chair.
Please convey my sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. May he rest in peace.

Hi All,
Alan Barrett has passed away. He built one of the first ISPs in South
Africa. He was also a NetBSD developer, and an instructor at afnog.
In my view, Alan P Barrett was the smart but quiet engineer.
Kind regards,
//Logan
