It is indeed a huge loss for the African and world Internet communities.
I first met with Alan during the INET'96 in Montreal organized by Georges
Sadowsky (ISOC) when he was a lecturer for the english track about Routing
and Switching.
SInce then, he joined the first discussion about Afrinic in 1996 before he
co-drafted the paper on Afrinic in 1997.
He was fully committed since day ONE for a strong and straight african
participation in ICANN and Internet Development within the continent.
Even if we did not have the chance to chat during these past years, we
still share a common sympathy and friendship that we have developed for the
love and benefit of Africa.
He was a warrior, a good guy, a strong and committed pillar. He did not
talk much , he was not so vocal but he was an engineer, efficient, result
oriented.
We will miss you but you will be in our heart forever.
