[afrigeek] afnog.org domain name

Hi all,

Anand from the RIPE NCC just dropped Randy a note to let him know that they needed to drop AFNOG.ORG from the server SEC2.AUTHDNS.RIPE.NET. I pulled that server from the registry record, and Randy is pulling it from the AFNOG.ORG zone apex.

While I was making the change, I noticed two things:

(a) the registry record for AfNOG.ORG no longer includes any AfNOG information; at some point (I am guessing while I was moving it variously between OpenSRS, GoDaddy and Gandi, where it is now, in various fits of registrar pique) it all became Hopcount Limited which is my company. I should fix that; the registry records should reflect reality. If someone could tell me who the admin and tech contacts should be, I'll change them.

I'm happy to continue to be involved in zero or all of this, but I don't want to presume, and it's certainly not my domain to make these kinds of decisions about.

(b) the sever AUSTIN.GH.COM is not responding to DNS queries on UDP or TCP:

[scallop:~]% dig @austin.gh.com afnog.org soa +tcp
;; Connection to 208.73.211.70#53(208.73.211.70) for afnog.org failed: connection refused.
[scallop:~]% dig @austin.gh.com afnog.org soa +notcp

; <<>> DiG 9.8.3-P1 <<>> @austin.gh.com afnog.org soa +notcp
; (1 server found)
;; global options: +cmd
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached
[scallop:~]%

I can ping it, though. So that's something. Ayitey, do you still have an ability to troubleshoot on that box?

[scallop:~]% ping -c5 austin.gh.com
