Dear African IXP Operators -

On behalf of AfNOG, ISOC, and AfriNIC we are please to be able to help
build on the work of the African IXP operators' meeting that took place
at AfNOG in Abuja this past April. As Michuki indicated, AfriNIC is
able to accommodate a discussion of IXP issues during the afternoon of
the AfriNIC plenary session in Durban on the 28th September.

We stand ready to help ensure the success of this discussion. Because
time is limited, it would be helpful if the list could discuss the kinds
of issues that would be good cover at this session. As this is intended
to be a community-driven effort, your discussion of what should be
covered and discussed would be helpful. The AfriNIC plenary sessions
are open, so there is an opportunity to share issues, opportunities,
progress and concerns with a larger audience. (Also, if the IXP
community would like to continue this kind of information exchange,
AfNOG would be pleased to host a further meeting at AfNOG 8 in Rabat.)

Regarding participant attendance, AfriNIC has already made its call for
sponsorship funding to attend the AfriNIC meeting. ISOC also has some
limited funding available to help arrange speakers and for travel for
those needing assistance to get to Durban for the IXP session.

Thank you to Michuki for volunteering to help coordinate this session.
Please send your ideas for the Durban session to this list (and also an
indication on if you are planning to attend). If you will need
assistance to get to the meeting, please send an e-mail to Karen Rose
(rose at isoc.org) and Mirjam Kuehne (Mir at isoc.org).

Best regards,
AfNOG, ISOC and AfriNIC
