Dear Colleagues,
AfriNIC is launching a program to facilitate the deployment of
additional copies of anycast Root server in the African region.
This program will mainly target IXPs in AfriNIC service region.
In this context, we are planning a workshop with few root server
Operators that have already expressed their interest in the
program. The workshop is planned to take place back to back with
ICANN meeting in Cairo (2-3 November 2008).
The purpose of the workshop is to: explain the principle of
anycast technology, how different root server operators use it
for duplicating instances of their servers, how the Root Server
copy can benefit Internet Development and add value to IXPs,
and finally how AfriNIC can assist IXPs with the deployment of
the Root Server copy.
You are all invited to attend this important workshop. If you are
interested in participating, please contact Ms. Lillian Sharpley
at lillian at afrinic.net.
You also have attached the draft Agenda and a registration form to
complete and return to meeting at afrinic.net.
Kind regards.
