Hmmh... it doesn't really matter to the switch; as long as it has 
a corresponding entry for a VLAN, in its VLAN database, locally 
configured on one of its ports, it should work.

Unfortunately, I cleared the RANCID changelogs from my MUA that 
came from "noc". Might you have a copy of the RANCID log from 
the first time this switch was CVS'ed, and any changes that 
would show what you describe?
