RE: Can't Ping the gateway

Thanks guys for all the help.  It was a problem of
conflict of IPs.  A colleague had configured another
machine with the same IP as this and I was not aware. 
The problem was solved when I gave the machine a new
IP.  I however do not understand why the machine did
not tell me it was conflicting with another. Any explanations?
