i was one of those contributors.  i do not regret it, and do not
worry about malfeasance in this particular area.  we have much
bigger worries.

at this time, what concerns me most is that folk seem more interested
in arguing than in trying find constructive ways forward.  or maybe
that is just what one sees on this list, and there is actually a lot
of positive work going on behind the scenes.  i sure hope so.

as to continuity/contingency/backup, i can only think of this wisdom
from my quotes file

and yes, restorability / fail-over needs to be tested regularly.
