Actually a check on bugtraq and incidents archives shows very many people
reporting that proxy servers seem to crash with the code red worm many of
them rebooting. I suspect this may be your problem. This seems to affect
all proxies including cisco, xylan onmni switches,3com etc. The posts are
many and not really relevant to this list therefore please check the
archives on securityfocus.com for the incidents and bugtraq lists.

However do not discount hardware problems or any other causes as they
could also be the problem. it would be especially useful if you could try
running it without squid and see whether it behaves the same way.
