RE: Eth0 does not come up after kernel recompiling

Hello this is what I did:

cd /usr/src/linux-2.4
rpm -ivh kernel-source-2.4.18-27.7.xcustom.rpm

This changed the symbolic link for (linux-2.4 to linux-2.4.7-10) to (linux-2.4 to linux-
2.4.18-27.7.x)

Then I did

make menuconfig
make dep
make bzImage

then copied the new System map to /boot as well as
bzImage from /usr/src/linux-2.4/arch/i386/boot to /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.18-27.7.x

then I did

make modules
make modules_install

Were these steps wrong?

Regards

David
